Looks like producer Boney Kapoor is getting into the movies! Kapoor recently made a cameo appearance playing himself in Vikramaditya Motwane’s fantastic AK vs AK which also stars Anil Kapoor, Anurag Kashyap, Sonam Kapoor and Harshvardhan Kapoor. Now, according to media reports, Boney Kapoor will be playing Ranbir Kapoor’s father in Luv Ranjan’s romantic drama which will also star Shraddha Kapoor.

The producer said that he was persuaded to take up the role by his son, Arjun Kapoor.

Kapoor said that when Luv Ranjan and team were writing the script for their movie, they envisioned someone like Boney Kapoor as Ranbir Kapoor’s father and had even offered him the role. However, he had turned it down as he was busy with his other projects.

“Luv insisted I do the role. He reached out to Arjun, who persuaded me for it. While the team will be shooting at a stretch in Delhi, they have given me the liberty to fly down to Mumbai and attend to my productions,” Boney Kapoor told Mid-Day. Apparently, Kapoor’s cameo in AK vs AK convinced Ranjan that it was worth another shot.

“I don’t have butterflies in my stomach. I have been calm during life’s ups and downs, so why should I feel apprehensive now?” the producer also said in the interview.

Luv Ranjan is, of course, famous for being the guiding light behind Kartik Aaryan’s superstardom. His Pyaar Ka Punchnama movies and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety catapulted Aaryan into one of Bollywood’s most bankable stars.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor is all set to star in Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s next film titled Animal which will also star Parineeti Chopra and Anil Kapoor. There were rumours earlier that Ranbir Kapoor would be paired opposite Sara Ali Khan but Filmfare is now reporting that besides Parineeti Chopra, the second lead actress is set to be Tripti Dimri who shot to fame post her starring role in Netflix’s hit film, Bulbbul.
