Initiated by the ‘World Health Organization’, ‘World No Tobacco Day’ is observed every year on May 31 to spread awareness about the ill effects of tobacco consumption. On this day, people are encouraged to abstain from tobacco for 24 hours.

In an interview with The Times Of India, Hrithik said that he unsuccessfully tried five times to give up on smoking — from talking to people to Google-ing endlessly. Luckily for him six years back when he encountered a book, ‘Easy Way To Stop Smoking‘ by Alan Carr, that was the day he smoked his last cigarette.

According to Hindustan Times, Konkona a chain smoker ditched it when she became pregnant with her son.

Purab Kohli

Indian Express states that Purab is another star who chose to give up smoking after the birth of his daughter Inaya, almost a decade back.

Vivek Oberoi

Ambassador of the World Health Organisation’s anti-smoking movement, Vivek quit after visiting cancer patients in Mumbai. In fact, he does not even let people smoke on his film sets, according to Cosmopolitan.

Shahid Kapoor

According to The Times Of India, Shahid who had started smoking six years back, post his break-up with Kareena Kapoor Khan, indulged in this habit for a long time. He’s, however, finally given up on the habit upon the insistence of his wife, Mira Kapoor.
