Eight Films That Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Should Have Never Rejected

All these movies went on to become huge hits

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has made some great movie choices throughout her career. She’s built a legacy of good cinema and proved that she’s more than just a pretty face. But she also did make some unfortunate decisions, and rejected movies that actually went on to become blockbusters. From Brad Pitt starrer ‘Troy’, to the iconic ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, here are eight films, that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan shouldn’t have rejected:

Kabhi Khush Kabhie Gham

Aishwarya was supposed to play the role opposite Shah Rukh, but her dates didn’t fit the shooting schedule, and hence, she had to drop the film.

Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.

Raju Hirani actually wanted Aishwarya to play the role of Doctor Suman in the film, but she reportedly did not want to act with Sanjay Dutt, given his descending career graph at the time.

Chalte Chalte

Aishwarya had already shot a good portion of the film with Shah Rukh, but after a visit from a drunk Salman Khan on the sets and a tiff with the Shah Rukh, she was replaced with Rani Mukherjee.

Veer-Zaara

The actual reason of why she rejected Veer-Zaara is still unclear, but rumours suggest that she was upset with the whole Chalte Chalte debacle, and did not want to work with them. She was supposed to play the part of Shah Rukh Khan’s lawyer, which was later given to Rani Mukherji. The film won a National Award for Most Popular Film.

Dostana

Dostana was another Karan Johar film, she couldn’t be a part of, mainly because of her dates. Another reason she opted out, according to reports, is because she wasn’t keen on sharing screen space with her actual husband, Abhishek Bachchan, since they were newly married at the time.

Bajirao Mastani

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s war drama, was actually intended for Salman Khan and Aishwarya. But as soon as she learned that Salman might be part of the film, she decided to drop the role, due to her history with him.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

Aishwarya was busy shooting for her Tamil film, Jeans, and did not have dates available to give Karan Johar. Apart from Aishwarya, the role was also offered to Urmila, Raveena Tandon and Twinkle Khanna, but eventually, Rani Mukherji bagged the role.

Troy

Possibly the biggest out of all the mentioned films, Troy, was a major Hollywood film, whose makers approached Aishwarya to play the role opposite Brad Pitt. She rejected the film as she wasn’t comfortable doing intimate scenes, that were part of the script. The Oscar-nominated director Wolfgang Peterson, eventually gave the role to Rose Byrne.
