In the photo, the infant — clad in a tie-dye T-shirt, navy blue sweatpants and green socks — can be seen sucking on Halsey’s pinkie finger. Halsey added a graphic of a fish alongside the picture.

This is Halsey’s first child, who she welcomed with boyfriend Alev Aydin on July 14.

Halsey has struggled with parenthood, having miscarried and gone through a draining treatment for endometriosis, which can cause infertility. The singer has often been candid about losing a child and how it makes her feel about herself, too. It is also the theme of one of her songs,
More on the album Manic, addressing her yet unborn child.

It was a pleasant surprise to all fans to see the announcement post back in January.

Later, she shared on their Instagram that becoming a pregnant had “leveled my perception of gender entirely.”

“I’ve been thinking lots about my body. it’s strange to watch yourself change so quickly. I thought pregnancy would give me very strong, binary feelings about ‘womanhood’ but truly it has leveled my perception of gender entirely,” they wrote at the time.

She remembers feeling guilty for not being able to take prenatal vitamins due to strong reactions to them.

“When this pregnancy started, I was like, ‘You’re going to do yoga and eat flaxseed. You’re going to use essential oils and hypnobirth and meditate and f—ing journal every single day.’ I have done none of those things. Zero. None,” says Halsey. “I eat cookies and had a bagel every single day for the first five months of my pregnancy,” she told Allure.

Her upcoming album, If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power, arriving on August 27, is thematically on similar lines. “This album is a concept album about the joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth,” was part of the caption. The cover art was revealed at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, with an image of Halsey in period clothing cradling a child, with a breast visible.

“This cover image celebrates pregnant and postpartum bodies as something beautiful, to be admired. We have a long way to go with eradicating the social stigma around bodies & breastfeeding. I hope this can be a step in the right direction!”
