Iconic Roles Of A Cinematic Soul: Remembering Mithilesh Chaturvedi’s Contribution To Bollywood

Condolences flooded in for the veteran actor, after his son-in-law broke the news of Chaturvedi’s passing via a social media post.

Veteran actor Mithilesh Chaturvedi passed away on Wednesday, losing a long-standing battle against chronic heart ailments. According to the reports, he was rushed to the hospital after suffering from a heart attack. His son-in-law confirmed the news on Facebook where he wrote, “Aap duniya ke sabse ache pita the, aapne mujhe dhamaad nhi, balki ek bete ki tarah prem diya. Bhagwan aapki aatma ko shanti pradan karein.”

Chaturvedi is a known name in the Indian entertainment industry, as he has been a part of various projects. The seasoned actor was recently roped in to be seen in comedian Bhuvan Bham’s upcoming web series. Ever since the news of his demise broke, condolences have been pouring in for the iconic artiste, from the industry and family members alike.

 

Here’s a look at his impressive body of work that will continue to remain etched in the minds of fans.

Asoka  

In this 2001’s historical drama, he played the role of a Kalinga minister, who was an evil man who strategized malicious ways through which he could end his foes. Chaturvedi made an impact with his dark role in the movie, which saw Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead roles.

Koi…Mil Gaya 

In 2003, Chaturvedi played the role of a computer enthusiast in the Hrithik Roshan-starrer, Koi Mil Gaya. The movie was one of the biggest hits of the year, where Chaturvedi’s role did not go unnoticed.  

Gadar: Ek Prem Katha 

He played the role of Idris, an editor of a newspaper called Jung daily, which used to publish reports of the ongoing partition. This movie was released in 2001, with Sunny Deol and Amisha Patel in the lead roles. Set during the partition, the movie revolves around a Hindu truck driver who falls in love with a nubile Muslim woman. 

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani  

“Mr Pinto”– Chaturvedi clearly made a mark with this one as the father of Katrina Kaif. As far as the storyline goes, Jenny was adopted by Pinto’s family, and it was a lighthearted role that he essayed with complete justice. Ranbir Kapoor was paired opposite Kaif in the movie.

This financial thriller series was released on SonyLIV on October 9, 2020. With Pratik Gandhi in the lead role, the movie shed light on a scam that stockbroker Harshad Mehta did. Chaturvedi played the role of Ram Jethmalani, a lawyer, and politician.
