It has been a year since Irrfan Khan passed away. The actor, who was last seen in Angrezi Medium, is still remembered by his fans every day, and thanks to his son Babil Khan, the actor’s fans get to see rare pictures of the star on social media from time to time as well. While many thought that they would not be able to see the star on the big screen anymore, Anup Singh shared a pleasant surprise with his fans and informed them that Khan’s film – The Song Of Scorpions – will be releasing in theatres in India soon.

Last year, Singh has revealed that they will be releasing the film in India to honour the legacy of the actor, but had not given a date to it. Months after announcing the film’s release, Singh opened up about the status of the film on Khan’s birth anniversary. Talking exclusively to Pinkvilla, the director revealed that the film is ready to be released in India.

He added that while the team wanted to release the film in the early 2021 summer, the delay is only happening because of the pandemic. “As for the film being shown to Indian audiences, it’s already with Indian distributors and ready for release, but the delay is because of the pandemic,” he told the online news portal.

Talking about Irrfan Khan, he further said, “I think the reason deep down all of us who are living the loss of Irrfan with such personal desolation is the awareness that he never tried to manipulate us, his audience. We could see in his performance, a search. The emotion emerged from him as a suggestion, a hint.”

“It was an evocation, never something handed over to us as complete. He never gave us a familiar, ready-made emotion. His suggestions, rather than showing the emotions of his characters expresses his trust in us. He allows us to imagine deep within ourselves and find and complete the emotion in our blood rather than simply in our eyes,” added the director.

The Song of Scorpions had made its world premiere at the 70th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland in August, 2017.
