Deepika Padukone never goes wrong with her sartorial choices, be it a casual dinner with her husband, Ranveer Singh, or an event as big as Cannes. Over the years, the actress has been walking the red carpet of many events, and she has always managed to steal the limelight with her statement outfits. This year, however, the actress was seen in relatively simple outfits. 

Padukone, who is on the Cannes 2022 Film Festival jury, seems to have a wardrobe of austere outfits. For the opening ceremony of the 75th edition of the film festival, she opted for a Louis Vuitton piece. She later wore a Sabyasachi piece that saw her pair a printed shirt with emerald green pants.

For her first red carpet appearance, the actress draped a black and gold Sabyasachi saree. While the outfit was minimal, her dramatic makeup with kohl-rimmed eyes, nude lips, and perfectly contoured face elevated the look. People were thrilled with Padukone for representing an Indian designer on the red carpet.

Noticeably, minimal seems to be redning now. Deepika Padukone is not the only star who has opted for a simple look this year. More recently, Alia Bhatt was lauded for her simple bridal look. The actress, who got married to Ranbir Kapoor, wore a gold saree by Sabyasachi.

Her no-makeup look has also set new standards for minimal bridal looks. Her mehendi ceremony outfit was created from 180 textile patches handpicked from all over the country, including Kashmir, Gujarat and Banaras.

Another example of an actor keeping it simple on her special day was Yami Gautam. For her wedding ceremony, she opted for a simple bridal look minus the glam. She wore a traditional red saree paired with traditional gold jewellery and minimal makeup.

Coming to promotions, Kiara Advani stands out with her understated and chic sartorial choices. From plain printed sarees, no statement jewellery, and minimal makeup, she has been acing the ‘go basic’ game like a boss. 

Janhvi Kapoor and Ananya Panday also prefer to keep things simple when it comes to the otherwise OTT airport looks celebs go for. The actress are often spotted in simple kurta-pyjamas for their flights and we totally approve of this.
