We wouldn’t be exaggerating if we said that Heera Mandi is the one film we are the most excited for – and the cast hasn’t even been finalised yet. Famed filmmaker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is known for his unique style of filmmaking and opulent sets. His last few films, namely Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat have been mega-hits and earned massive critical acclaim.

Any Sanjay Leela Bhansali project is cause for celebration – the filmmaker who has given us films like Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani and Black had previously announced that he is making a film on the iconic Gangubai Kothewali. The film tells the story of Gangubai who was one of the most feared and renowned madams of a brothel in Kamathipura.

According to media reports, the star director is personally casting for Heera Mandi and is considering ace actors like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Deepika Padukone, Vidya Balan and Manisha Koirala for the project.

Heera Mandi is also set to be SLB’s first collaboration with the streaming giant, Netflix and the project is expected to go on floors in the first half of 2021.

Now, according to multiple media reports, actor Kartik Aaryan will be making his digital debut in SLB’s Heera Mandi opposite these illustrious ladies.

“Kartik Aaryan and Bhansali have always discussed in teaming up for a film together. They have met a couple of times in the past as well but nothing worked out. Recently, he was spotted at the maverick filmmaker’s office and apparently, SLB asked him if he would like to do a role in Heera Mandi,” a source told Box Office Worldwide.

Kartik Aaryan has been Bollywood’s golden boy for a while now. The actor first shot to virality following the release of Pyaar ka Punchnama but appeared to vanish off the radar after that. However, he made an uber-successful comeback with Pyaar ka Punchnama 2 and there was no looking back after that. Since then, he’s done movies that have been critically panned but have earned big bucks at the box office.
