Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha & Akshay Kumar's Raksha Bandhan Box Office Report
Laal Singh Chaddha & Raksha Bandhan Suffer Miserably At The Box Office

By comparison, Laal Singh Chaddha has done better than Raksha Bandhan

Two of the biggest stars were pitted against each other at the box office on August 11, 2022. Aamir Khan’s much-anticipated Laal Singh Chaddha clashed with Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan, which threw scores of fans in a fix about what to watch. Both the films were expected to revive the theatres business after multiple films tanked at the box office. But, much to everyone’s surprise, neither of the films did well on their opening day.

Yes, you read that right. Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan recorded collections lower than the stars’ older films. On the upside, Thugs Of Hindostan and Samrat Prithviraj had failed to create magic at the BO badly, here’s still hoping that the two new releases may just set a new record for the actors in the days to come. However, let’s see what the collections look like so far.

Laal Singh Chaddha witnessed only a 15% occupancy rate on Day 1. Collecting Rs. 12 cr on its opening day, the film failed to beat even his last film, Thugs of Hindostan’s BO which collected Rs. 52.25 cr on opening day. Dhoom 3 collected Rs. 36.22 cr, Dangal collected Rs. 29.78 cr, and PK collected Rs. 26.63 cr on their opening day, making the Forrest Gump remake a new low for Khan.

As for Akshay Kumar’s family entertainer, the film also failed to capitalize on the Raksha Bandhan holiday. The film collected Rs 8.2 crore on its opening day and failed to beat his other two flops of this year – Samrat Prithviraj and Bachchhan Paandey. By comparison, Laal Singh Chaddha has done better than Kumar’s film. With this, Kumar appears to be looking at a hattrick of flops in 2022.

The critics’ reviews and the boycott trends are not helping the film either. The popular opinion is that people are choosing not to watch the films because of their regressive themes, past comments made by the actors, and several other such reasons. Trade analysts, however, feel that the films might get a better collect over the extended weekend as people celebrate Independence Day.
