Lady Gaga recently opened up about how things changed for her when a producer raped her at the age of 19. She talked about how she suffered from a psychotic break when the said producer got her pregnant during the early years of her career.

For Apple TV+’s documentary, The Me You Can’t See, Gaga opened up about the assault and how it affected her mental health. “I was working in the business, and a producer said to me, ‘Take your clothes off.’ And I said no. I left, and they told me they were going to burn all of my music. And they didn’t stop. They didn’t stop asking me, and I just froze and I – I don’t even remember,” said the singer.

The documentary is a collective effort of Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry to initiate honest discussions about mental health. “First, I felt full-on pain, then I went numb. I was sick for weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks after, and I realised that it was the same pain that I felt when the person who raped me dropped me off, pregnant, on a corner,” Gaga added.

Gaga went on to add that she suffered “a total psychotic break and for a couple of years I was not the same girl.” She went on to say, “I understand this #MeToo movement, I understand that some people feel really comfortable with this, and I do not. I do not ever want to face that person ever again.  Even if I have six brilliant months, all it takes is getting triggered once to feel bad.”

Lady Gaga will now star alongside Adam Driver in MGM’s Gucci. Gaga will star as Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci who was tried and convicted of orchestrating his assassination in 1995. Reggiani served 18 years in jail before being let out in 2016. The Gucci murder tale is scripted by Roberto Bentivegna, based on Sara Gay Forden’s book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed, reports Deadline.
