According to recent reports, the movie fared well in terms of the money made through advance bookings. Brahmastra‘s early bookings surpassed some of the biggest Bollywood earners in 2022, such as Bhul Bhulaiyaa 2 and 83 which were released this year. Regional versions of the movie were released concurrently in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.

Brahmastra was produced on a massive budget of Rs 430 crores and boasts of being the most expensive film in Bollywood. The visual effects that have been used in the movie were being promoted as one of the best that the audience has seen yet.

Just like Marvel’s multiverse talks about various universes, Ayan Mukherji’s film explores the subject of Astraverse, which explores the different astras of nature. In a video released by Mukherji on YouTube, a month ago, the filmmaker explained the concept in detail.

Reactions aside, the movie faced untoward threats, as the Members of the Bajrang Dal in Ujjain began protesting with black flags and denied entry to Kapoor, Alia, and Mukerji when they’d gone to seek blessings at the famous Mahakaleshwar temple. Recent releases like Liger and Laal Singh Chaddha met with a similar fate, in terms of being subjected to Boycott threats prior to their releases.
