If Oprah Winfrey does an interview, one can surely expect some controversies or shocking revelations. After Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s bombshell interview earlier this month, Oprah sat down for an interview with Priyanka Chopra recently, and it looks like that this one has already started to get people’s attention even before getting aired.

According to India Today, a recently released promo clip of Priyanka Chopra’s interview with Oprah Winfrey showed Priyanka talking about her religious foundation. The actress talks about her secular upbringing in the clip and also mentioned that she was “aware of Islam” as her late father, Dr Ashok Chopra, used to “sing in a mosque”.

The White Tiger actress spoke about “the swirling number of religions…that live within the country [India]” and said, “I grew up in a convent school. I was aware of Christianity. My dad used to sing in a mosque, I was aware of Islam. I grew up in a Hindu family, I was aware of that. Spirituality is such a large part of India that you really cannot ignore it.”

After the release of the promo, Twitter had one or two things to say about it. Many on Twitter took offence to how Priyanka spoke about being “aware of Islam” as it appeared as if she learned about an entire religion simply because her father sang in a mosque. Many asked which mosque, while several others mocked Priyanka’s statement and said they, unfortunately, remained unaware of Islam since their father never sang at a mosque.

Priyanka Chopra also spoke at length about her memoir, Unfinished, which was released recently. She said that she has left all the insecurities that she had in her 20s behind.

In the clip, Priyanka said, “I honestly feel as a woman I’m in a more secure place. I felt like I could leave behind the insecurities of my 20s and not worry about the things that used to scare me before. I have a little bit more confidence in myself and what I bring to the table, professionally, personally. I think that really helped me address my life. I always wanted to write a book and I thought the easiest thing I could write about is my life.”

The interview will air on Discovery+ on March 24.
