Good lord almighty, director Rohit Shetty is turning to Shakespeare and Ranveer Singh is all on-board. Yes, you read that right. Singh has signed a new film with the director which is titled Cirkus and will be Shetty’s take on the Shakespearean classic, The Comedy of Errors.

The film will also feature actresses Jacqueline Fernandez and Pooja Hegde and actors such as Varun Sharma, Siddhartha Jadhav, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Vrajesh Hirjee, Vijay Patkar, Sulbha Arya, Mukesh Tiwari, Anil Charanjeett, Ashwini Kalsekar, and Murli Sharma.

The shooting for the film is set to start next month with Cirkus being filmed across Mumbai, Goa, and Ooty.

This Shakespearean adaptation will be presented by Bhushan Kumar and Reliance Entertainment and Shetty will not only be directing the film but also producing it. The film is slated to release towards the end of 2021, as of now.

This will be Singh’s third collaboration with the wildly successful director. They had collaborated last in the 2018 movie, Simmba which also starred Sara Ali Khan.

According to media reports, Ranveer Singh will also make a special appearance in the Rohit Shetty film, Sooryavanshi which has actor Akshay Kumar in the lead role.

In other news, Singh has completed the shooting schedule for the highly-anticipated movie ’83 and Jayeshbhai Jordaar. ’83 was initially slated for an April release but has now been postponed indefinitely. Jayeshbhai Jordaar is expected to hit screens later this year.

Simmba had surpassed Chennai Express to become Rohit Shetty’s highest-grossing film. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Simmba had earned a total of Rs. 227.71 crore so far while Chennai Express had made Rs. 227.13 crore.

“Simmba crosses the lifetime business of Chennai Express and emerges Rohit Shetty’s highest-grosser. Week 3 – Friday 2.60 crore, Saturday 4.51 crore, Sunday 5.30 crore, Monday 2.86 crore. Total: Rs. 227.71 crore. India business. Blockbuster,” the trade analyst had tweeted.

We can’t wait to see how Shetty re-interprets The Comedy of Errors with his penchant for high-octane action and burning cars.
