Adipurush is one of the most anticipated films of the year. Starring Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles, the film is currently in its production phase. The makers are yet to release any official statement about Shukla’ character, but rumours have it that the actor will essay the role of  Meghnad, the elder son of Ravana, in the film. According to several online reports, the character will have a lot of scope to perform, and it will have quite an impact on the story of the film.  An official confirmation about Sidharth Shukla’s role is now awaited.

The Om Raut directed film is based on the Indian epic Ramayana. While Prabhas is set to play the role of Lord Ram, Kriti Sanon will essay the role of Sita. Actor Saif Ali Khan will play the antagonist, Lankesh.

In an interview with Mumbai Mirror last year, Khan had said that Adipurush will be an attempt to ‘justify’ Raavan’s actions. “It’s interesting to play a demon king, less strictures in that. But we will make him humane, up the entertainment quotient, justify his abduction of Sita and the war with Ram as revenge for what was done to his sister Surpanakha by Lakshman, who cut off his nose,” he had said. This statement angered many people on the internet, who demanded the makers of Adipurush to remove the actor from the film.

The Bhushan Kumar-backed multilingual period saga is being touted as a film celebrating “the victory of good over evil”. Adipurush will be shot in Hindi and Telegu and dubbed in multiple languages like Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and other foreign languages.
