The second Coivd-19 wave has hit us all harder than last year. More and more people are getting affected this time around, and the hospitals are even running out of resources to take care of their patients. In these testing times, many Bollywood celebrities have stepped forward to help the needy. Sonu Sood, Salman Khan, Bhumi Pednerkar are amongst the few stars who have extended support to relief funds, charity and more.

Sonu Sood:

 

Sood has won a special place in everyone’s heart because of his contribution during the pandemic. He became the messiah of all the migrant workers who were away from their homes. He helped people go back to their hometowns, provided them with food and other basic amenities and ensured everyone is safe. He even opened up his hotel to be converted into a quarantine centre. Sonu Sood also launched a helpline number for migrants, and has launched an app on Telegram that will help people locate medical resource around their cities.

 

Salman Khan:

 

Khan sent out ration packets to the needy from his Panvel farmhouse under his ‘Being Haangryy’ initiative. He also recently distributed 5000 meal packets to the frontline workers. Khan also urged people to take up the ‘Anna Daan‘ challenge and urged everyone to donate to the people who are worst affected by the lockdown.

 

Bhumi Pednekar:

 

The actress who herself had contracted the virus a week ago, made sure she helps people after she recovered. She asked people to drop a message to her with genuine requests and promised to help them out. She has also been educating people about the myths about vaccines that have surfaced online.

 

Akshay Kumar:

 

Kumar has been educating people about the virus online, and has repeatedly requested the citizens to follow the lockdown rules. He extended support to numerous funds, and donated Rs. 25 crores to the PM-CARES fund. He also pledged Rs. 2 crore to Mumbai Police Foundation, Rs. 3 crore to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Rs. 45 lakh to Cine And TV Artists Association (CINTAA). The Ram Setu star also participated in Bollywood’s biggest fundraiser concert ‘I For India’ to raise money for the underprivileged.

 

Shah Rukh Khan:

 

Shah Rukh Khan owned Kolkata Knight Riders, Red Chillies Entertainment, Meer Foundation and Red Chillies VFX pledged to extend financial support to several charities. SRK has donated money to Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES), and Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Relief Fund. The actor along with his wife, Gauri Khan, also provided personal protective equipment (PPE) kits to daily wage workers, acid attack survivors and others.

 

Ayushmann Khurrana And Wife Tahira Kashyap Step Up For Women

 

Ayushmann Khurrana and his wife, Tahira Kashyap have been supporting an NGO Shakti Foundation’s initiative called Gulmeher. The social initiative helps women’s collective of waste-pickers from Delhi’s Ghazipur turned artisans. The duo urged people to donate and support these women. They also recently donated to the Maharashtra CM Relief fund as well.

 

Varun Dhawan

 

Varun Dhawan joined hands with Tata Trust to provided meals to homeless people and people who are out of jobs due to the pandemic. The actor also stepped up to help the frontline workers risking their lives and committed to providing meals to doctors and medical staff at hospitals.
