Adding another layer of nostalgia on a show based on nostalgia, Netflix has officially dropped the trailer for That ’90s Show, a sequel to the 1998’s, That ’70s Show. The 10-episode spinoff series is set to start streaming on the OTT platform starting on January 19, 2023.  

Here’s the official synopsis: “The show centers on Leia Forman, the teenage daughter of Eric Forman and Donna Pinciotti, forming bonds with other teenagers as she spends the summer of 1995 with her grandparents, Red and Kitty in Point Place, Wisconsin, 15 years after the events of That ’70s Show.”  

As the name suggests, the show is based on the backdrop of the 90s era, specifically, the summer of 1995, and follows Eric and Donna’s daughter, Leia Forman, who’s played by Callie Haverda. The trailer shows Leia visiting her grandparents, still played by Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp) and Red (Kurtwood Smith), and of course, hilarity ensues.   

Both Topher Grace and Laura Prepon will reprise their roles as Eric and Dona respectively, with Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, and Wilmer Valderrama also making an appearance. The new additions to the cast include Ashley Aufderheide, Mace Coronel, Maxwell Acee Donovan, Reyn Doi, and Sam Morelos.  

What’ll be more interesting to see is how the modern audience responds to the multi-camera, sitcom setup which hasn’t been the norm in the industry for a while now. Helming it will be Gregg Mettler and Lindsey Turner, the daughter of the original series creators Bonnie Turner and Terry Turner.
