It appears that Bollywood has finally had enough of the media circus that has deemed an entire industry as being filled with drug addicts and ruled by the “movie mafia”. Bar and Bench had earlier reported that four leading Bollywood industry associations and 34 producers have filed a suit at the Delhi High Court against Republic TV, Arnab Goswami, Times Now, Pradeep Bhandari, Rahul Shivshankar, and Navika Kumar.

The suit aims to stop the TV channels and its anchors from making “irresponsible, derogatory and defamatory remarks against Bollywood as a whole”.

Of course, those targetted in the suit weren’t thrilled but they had a champion in filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri – for a while, at least.

“Can the public sue Bollywood for destroying music, lyrics, language, art, creativity, social fabric, and culture of India?” Agnihotri tweeted and was promptly reminded by Twitter users of a film he had made called Hate Story starring Paoli Dam.

“Sir, yeh thoda zyada ho gaya. Why was Hate Story a hit? Because you made it or because people watched it? And by your own admission, the success of hate story brought in producers for you to make movies you believed in,” a Twitter user reminded him.

Nikhil Dwivedi who also starred in the hit film with Dam and Gulshan Devaiah asked Agnihotri to not speak any further.

“Sirrrrrrr You and I made #HateStory together. Bahut trolling hogi hamari shant ho jaao (we will be trolled a lot, calm down),” he tweeted.
