The biggest criticism against Karan Johar‘s Netflix series, The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives appears to be that it is lightweight and frivolous. One wonders what else it was supposed to be, honestly. Did you expect tears, gory details, and a deep-dive into the lives of these Bollywood wives? In India? Please.

The show cannot be a Keeping Up With The Kardashians or The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills simply because this isn’t America and Bhavana Pandey, Maheep Kapoor, Seema Khan, and Neelam Kothari Soni, we’re certain, are more interested in their safety than providing you with ‘substance’. Take the show as it is – another Dharma Productions fuelled glamorous, superficial guilty pleasure that is hilarious to watch once you’ve had a glass or two of wine.

Anyway, moving on – the show is already trending at #1 on Netflix India and if Netflix agrees to open their black box of data (which they never really do), we’re certain the streaming numbers will be off the charts. You’re the baby of the group and you often get away with a lot of things the others would not. As Lali Dhawan says, you’re most fun when you’re high because of your fondness for dancing on tables. You may come across as a fatuous socialite but you’re a shrewd businesswoman who just happens to love DM-ing Kim Kardashian. No harm in that, is there?

The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives premiered on Netflix on November 27. The series also features celebrities like Samir Soni, Sanjay Kapoor, Chunky Pandey, Sohail Khan, Raveena Tandon, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Malaika Arora.

The finale of The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives also features a cameo with Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan. Ananya Panday also makes an appearance and so does Sidharth Malhotra.
