It is that time of the year again where two of the best clubs from Europe battle it out for supremacy over Europe. It is time for the Champions league finale to be contested between Chelsea and Manchester City. The Champions League began with 64 teams fighting to reach this stage, and it all comes down to this. Both Chelsea and Manchester City play in the English Premier League, and have already faced each other thrice this season, twice in the league and once in the FA cup semi-finals. Manchester City winning once and Chelsea winning two close battles. Both the teams have great youngsters, as well as experienced leaders in the team. Chelsea has Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, and Mason Mount, while Manchester City has Phil Foden, Kevin De Bruyne, and Kyle Walker. It is a pretty important game for both teams, and it can be season-defining as well. Both teams have had quite the opposite seasons, and were not expected to be at this stage. Manchester City had a shaky start to the season, and their squad was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, which they survived and came through. They finished the league in the first position ahead of their Manchester rivals by 14 points, which is a considerable margin. They won the Carabao Cup with ease but were knocked out by Chelsea in the semis of the FA cup.

On the other hand, Chelsea was languishing in the ninth position when they sacked club legend, Frank Lampard. At that point, all the Chelsea fans thought it would be a weird season, and they won’t be in a good position at the end of the season. Chelsea appointed Thomas Tuchel, who changed the complexion of their season. He delivered his promise of making Chelsea one of the most feared teams in the world. He has made the Chelsea defense look rock solid and has revived the careers of many youngsters at the club. They were knocked out early in the Carabao Cup but lost in the FA Cup final to Leicester City a couple of weeks ago.

It is an emotional game for Manchester City as it would be the last time they would see fan favourite and club legend Sergio Aguero don the city colours. They would want to give him the best farewell gift he couldn’t have possibly ever imagined. The Chelsea manager would also love to lift the Champions League after failing at this stage last year with PSG against Bayern Munich. It remains to be seen which team will prevail in the biggest game of their lives and which team will be left to fight another day. All in all, this game is a must-watch.
