The T20 World Cup is finally back after a wait of five years, and almost everything is decided for this year’s second ICC marquee event after the World Test Championship final, which was held earlier this month. This year’s world cup was earlier scheduled in India, but due to the prevailing pandemic situation in the country, both the BCCI and the ICC thought it is best to keep the event away from India. Last year’s T20 World cup, which was scheduled to be held in Australia, has now been shifted to late 2022 due to the pandemic itself. So now, we will go over every detail announced by the ICC (International Cricket Council) for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Dates: October 17, 2021, to November 14, 2021
Countries the event is going to be held in UAE and Oman.
Venues: 4 (Dubai International Stadium, the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the Sharjah Stadium, and the Oman Cricket Academy Ground)
Qualified Teams: 8(India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Australia, England, West Indies, South Africa, and Afghanistan)
Top non-qualified teams: Sri Lanka and Bangladesh (Will have to advance through the qualifiers)
Host of the ICC event: BCCI (Board of Cricket Council in India)
Schedule of the event: As of now, the schedule hasn’t been announced.
In a statement released by the BCCI and ICC, the Acting ICC CEO Geoff Allardice said: “Our priority is to deliver the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 safely, in full and in its current window. While we are incredibly disappointed not to be hosting the event in India, the decision gives us the certainty we need to stage the event in a country that is a proven international host of multi-team events in a bio-secure environment. We will work closely with the BCCI, the Emirates Cricket Board, and Oman Cricket to ensure fans can enjoy a wonderful celebration of cricket.”
After that, a statement was also released by BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and Secretary, Jay Shah who were keen to host the event in India but knew about the circumstances in the country and hope to bring an ICC event back in India sooner rather than later. All the fans were hoping for a great tournament this time around in the UAE and Oman, who would be the first-time hosts of such an event.
