Fans Want Refund After Rain Washes Out Ind vs SA 5th T20I
Fans Demand Refund After Rain Washes Out 5th T20I Between India And South Africa

In the 3.3 overs of the play that was possible, Lungi Ngidi’s stellar spell had put South Africa on the top with his double-strike.

With the Ind vs SA T20I series locked in at 2-2, the deciding game was eagerly awaited but the persistent drizzle in Bengaluru played the spoilsport. M Chinnaswamy’s impressive drainage system too didn’t account for anything as the rain never slowed down for even a five-overs-per-side clash.

In the 3.3 overs of the play that was possible, Lungi Ngidi’s stellar spell had put South Africa on the top with his double-strike. Making a comeback after a long layoff due to recurring injuries, Ngidi bowled Ishan Kishan and got Ruturaj Gaikwad caught by Dwaine Pretorius.

Keshav Maharaj walked out for a toss after Temba Bavuma was ruled out due to an injury, and he played as a lone spinner. Tabraiz Shamsi, another half of the spin duo, lost his place after failing to make an impact in the first four games.

Maharaj was disappointed with the result, and said there’s still a lot to improve upon before the World Cup in Australia. The visitors will definitely rue the missed chances to kill the series after starting on such an emphatic note.

“Very disappointed we didn’t get a full game for the end of an exciting tour. We started pretty well, pity we could not see the outcome. We can’t control the weather. We tried a few combinations. Still a work in progress for Australia. You may still see changes,” said Maharaj.

India, meanwhile, went unchanged and they must be more relieved of the two sides, given how they lost both openers in the first 21 balls. Moreover, the moisture in the pitch was going to create further trouble for them.

Expecting for a humdinger of a clash, all the crowd could manage was to stare at a bout of steady drizzle, punctuated by a brief spell of action. The chants of ‘RCB RCB’ echoed throughout the stadium, and they would have certainly relished the local lad Dinesh Karthik turning up the heat.

Disappointed with the washout, they are asking for a refund from BCCI. However, as per the guidelines issued on the tickets, a refund is possible only when a match is abandoned without a ball being bowled.
