Messi Texted Aguero After Real Madrid’s Miraculous Comeback Against City, And It Sums Up What We Felt

Like most of us, Messi and Aguero too had a tough time believing what they had witnessed

Sergio Aguero revealed an epic message that he received from Lionel Messi soon after Real Madrid completed a dramatic comeback over Manchester City via Karim Benzema’s goal.

Despite trailing for the majority of the fixtures, Real Madrid cancelled the two-goal deficit in injury time, courtesy a brace from Rodrygo. Benzema then sealed the victory with a well-executed penalty shot after he was dragged down by Ruben Dias.

Like most of us, Messi and Aguero too had a tough time believing what they had witnessed. The former Manchester City striker was streaming the match on Twitch, along with his ex-colleague and compatriot, Carlos Tevez. Aguero was left devastated after Rodrygo scored in the 91st minute to level the aggregate score.

Before the game, Aguero said that he wanted his old club to ease through the semi-finals, but he is very nervous about the prospect of playing Real Madrid in their own backyard.

“I want to say that I’m really nervous, I don’t know why but I’m nervous. I want City to go through. I don’t know what Pep has in store, I imagine he didn’t sleep all night, I know him,” said Aguero.

Even though Messi no longer plays for Barcelona, he couldn’t see arch-rival Real Madrid acing the tournament. As soon as Benzema buried the penalty, Messi texted Aguero: “It’s a joke, it’s not possible.”

Earlier in the competition, Messi was at the receiving end of Real Madrid’s comeback when they crushed PSG by 3-2 on aggregate. Karim Benzema scored a hat-trick in the second leg to complete the turnaround.

Real Madrid will now play Liverpool in the final at the Stade de France in Paris, on May 29th.

Manchester City, meanwhile, was left heartbroken after another failure in the Champions League. Pep Guardiola rued the missed chances but cautioned his players to put everything in the remaining four games of the Premier League.

“It is tough for us, I cannot deny. We were so close to the Champions League final. Now we need to process that and come back, with our people at home and in the last four games we have,” said Guardiola after the game.
