Chennai Super Kings beat Rajasthan Royals by a massive margin of 45 runs at Wankhede Stadium on April 19. In the second innings of the match, it seemed pretty one-sided affair for the CSK. Moeen Ali was awarded with the Player of the Match trophy for his brilliant performance of 7/3 with the ball and 26 (20) with the bat.

RR won the toss and decided to put CSK into bat first. Faf du Plessis scored 33 runs off 17 balls, providing a solid start from the front. Moeen Ali scored 26 runs and Ambati Rayudu scored 27 runs from the middle order, which kept the scoreboard ticking. Sam Curran and Bravo played their crucial knock towards the death overs, keeping their team in the hunt for a big score. CSK managed to put a first innings score of 188 runs for the loss of nine wickets.

Chasing a tricky score, Jos Buttler gave RR the start that they were looking for, and laid a solid foundation of 49 runs with his two sixes and five fours. Rest of the top and middle order struggled and were not able to convert their innings into big scores. Rahul Tewatia’s 20 runs and Unadkat’s 24 runs kept RR in the hunt but that was not enough for the team to get over the line.

Moeen Ali was the star bowler for CSK, taking three wickets. Curran and Jadeja grabbed a couple of wickets each while Bravo and Thakur took one-one wicket each. We haven’t seen any special innings from MS Dhoni’s bat so far. We have only witnessed him in anchoring the innings for his team in all the matches so far.

With this emphatic win, CSK put themselves up to second place on the league table, meanwhile RR dropped down to sixth on the table. Right now, RCB is leading the table with six points and currently are undefeated till now.
