Rajasthan Royals beat Delhi Capitals by three wickets at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.  Jaydev Unadkat was awarded as the player of the match for his brilliant bowling efforts while Chris Morris’ rampaging innings helped RR to snatch the victory from DC towards the end of the innings.

RR won the toss and put DC to bat first. Batting first, Delhi lost early wickets, courtesy of Unadkat’s bowling figures of three wickets for 15 runs in his four overs, which kept scoring difficult for the DC batsmen. Rishabh Pant’s brilliant 51 runs and Tom Curran’s 21 runs provided them with some resistance, but DC kept losing wickets at a regular interval and were able to score a decent total of 147 runs on the board for the loss of eight wickets.

Lalit Yadav and Chris Woakes chipped in with their little and yet important performances. Rahman grabbed a couple of wickets while Morris took one wicket. Rahul Tewatia and Chetan Sakariya were all hit for runs by the DC batsmen.

Chasing a decent total, RR started in the worst way possible as they lost too many early wickets. At 42/5, they looked lost but then came David Miller and scored 62 runs off just 43 balls and steered the innings through. After losing Miller, RR was struggling again. All eyes were on Morris, who was the costliest buy at this year’s Vivo IPL, to get his team over the finish line but it seemed an uphill task.

Morris was on seven off eight balls at the end of the 18th over when RR required 27 runs off 12 balls. He then smashed 29 runs off 10 balls and won the game for RR, proving his worth of every single penny.

Avesh Khan took three wickets and conceded 32 runs. Chris Woakes and Kagiso Rabada both grabbed a couple of wickets each for their team.

Rishabh Pant seemed unhappy with their performance and said that they were 15-20 runs short. “It’s the part and parcel of life,” said Pant while promising better performances for their next match. Sanju Samson thought that they have lost too many early wickets and also the match. But he has all the faith in Morris, who came down the order, and won the match for their side.
