Winning the toss, Punjab Kings decided to bat first. Opening the innings for PBKS, Mayank Agarwal scored a slow 22 runs off the 25 balls he faced, as the team kept losing wickets on the other end at a regular interval. All the big guns for the Punjab like Gayle, Pooran, and Rahul fell weakly to SRH bowlers. Shahrukh Khan, with his 22 runs, ensured that the team gets over the 100 runs mark. At the end of the 20th over, PBKS were only able to manage a low score of 120 runs.

Khaleel Ahmed was the star bowler for the Sunrisers as he took three wickets for 21 runs in four overs. Abhishek Sharma grabbed a couple of wickets while Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddarth Kaul, and Rashid Khan all chipped in with a wicket each.

Chasing a low score, Hyderabad openers started their innings very cautiously. Bairstow led the team from the front, playing a solid match winning innings of 63 runs off 56 balls. Supporting him on the other end was his captain David Warner, who kept rotating the strike from one end as there was no need for the big hits and scored 37 runs off 37 balls.

Kane Williamson was given a chance in the playing eleven for the first time in the matches so far, and he ensured that the team gets over the line and scored a decent 16 runs off 19 balls. Fabian Allen was the only bowler from PBKS to be in the wicket column for his team and there were not enough runs on the board for the PBKS bowlers to defend.

This was SRH’s first win in their four matches played so far in this year’s IPL, and with that, Hyderabad jumped to the fifth spot on the league table. Chennai Super Kings leads the table with six points, followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi capitals.
