Italian Open has been one of the elite tennis tournaments that takes place every year. Although it’s not one of the Grand Slam tennis tournaments, the top seeds want to win it.

It was a great tournament put together by the Italian Tennis Federation amid the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic that has hit almost every country worldwide. This tournament took place in Rome. There was some respite for tennis fans since the Italian Tennis Federation allowed a maximum of 25 per cent capacity into the stadiums from the Round of 16 stages. This meant that around 5,000 fans would be grateful to see their favourite players play and perform, and they can cheer for them.

It was a great tournament, as the top eight seeds as per the ATP rankings were given the byes into the second round. More than 100 participants from across the world took part in this tournament, and from the second round onwards, we started to see the big match-ups. The top six seeds out of the eight faced off in the quarter-finals. This made sure that the tournament from there on will be an enthralling one.

The final took place between arguably the top two out of the three players in the whole world. It was between Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, which meant that the match would be a thrilling one. Rafael Nadal won the game and the tournament by 7-5,1-6,6-3 to defeat defending champion Novak Djokovic. Rafael Nadal won his 10th men’s singles tennis title with this victory, and this win meant that he has now won 36 Masters 1000 titles. While Novak Djokovic has an unwanted record to his name, he has been runner’s up for the Italian Open for the sixth time with this loss.
