Indian boxer Vijender Singh will now have his debut in America, after signing a multi-year contract with renowned promoter Bob Arum’s company Top Rank.

The athlete will make his debut in March 2019 for the first time after being signed under Top Rank. “Top Rank is very excited to enter into a contract with Vijender. We intend to make him a big star in the United States and look forward to him participating in major events in India, where he is already a major superstar,” Arum said in a statement.

Vijender, who played his last match back in December 2017, was quoted saying he was looking forward to work with a successful boxing organisation. “I have always wanted to work with someone who is the best in the business, and I know Top Rank has been the driving force behind boxing’s biggest superstars, including Oscar De La Hoya, Floyd Mayweather, and Miguel Cotto,” he said. 

“I am eagerly waiting a date for my US debut to take on the world and keep the Indian flag on the world boxing map fluttering high,” he added.

An Olympic bronze medalist, Singh has had an unbeaten streak and has a record of 10-0 with 7 KO’s ever since he went pro. We’ll have to wait and see if the boxer can punch through and keep his record unbeaten in March.
