Virat Kohli Reveals Why He Laughed After His Golden Ducks in IPL 2022
‘Absolutely Helpless’: Virat Kohli Reveals Why He Laughed After Getting Out For First-Ball Duck

Kohli has amassed just over 200 runs in 12 T20s with just one half-century this season.

Virat Kohli is going through the leanest patch of his cricketing career. In the current season of the Indian Premier League 2022, Kohli has amassed just over 200 runs in 12 T20s with just one half-century. He also became the 13th player to register three golden ducks in a single edition of the tournament.

Earlier this year, a lot was written about how relinquishing the captaincy will bring the best out of Kohli. But so far there’s no end to his batting woes. After a string of low scores at No. 3, Kohli promoted himself to open the innings, alongside the skipper Faf du Plessis. But even that didn’t change his fortune.

In the last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he was sent back to the pavilion by Jagadeesha Suchith on the first ball of the game. However, the rest of the batting order put up a brilliant show to guide Royal Challengers Bangalore to a massive win.

In a light-hearted interview with RCB insider Danish Sait, Kohli talked about his unusual struggle and two first-ball ducks. He smiled after his second golden duck because he felt that he has seen everything in his career.

“First-ball ducks. After the second one (duck), I actually realised what It feels like to be like you (Danish Sait), absolutely helpless. It hasn’t happened to me ever in my career, I think. That’s why I smiled because I felt like I have seen everything now. It’s been so long, I have seen everything this game has to show,” Kohli said.

A lot of cricket experts have opined that he should take a break from competitive cricket. Former India coach Ravi Shastri has stated that the former Indian captain is “overcooked”.

But Kohli stressed the importance of not letting the “outside noise” affect his mindset.

“They can’t be in my shoes. They can’t feel what I feel. They can’t live my life. They can’t live those moments. How do you cut out the noise? You either mute the TV or don’t pay attention to what people are saying. I do both those things,” Kohli concluded.
