Cut back to the beginning of this decade. Samsung launched its first Galaxy device in June 2010. Back then Google’s Android was a fledgling OS and Nokia with its Symbian OS was still the market leader.

Samsung Galaxy S: Samsung dazzled us with a 4-inch Super AMOLED display that was a big deal at that time. We certainly didn’t do Netflix back then and barely watched videos on our phones.

Samsung Galaxy Note II: the first Samsung Galaxy Note opened to mixed reviews but that’s because most users and critics were not ready for a large smartphone display. The Note devices didn’t just usher in the phablet but they changed the future of the display. The Note II was probably the most influential Note device with major improvements in form and design. The 5.5 inch Super AMOLED screen (1280 x 720 pixels) was the best in class back in 2012.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge: Samsung launched Note Edge with a curved screen before this device but the S6 Edge was the real deal – a gorgeous blend of metal and glass as Samsung ditched the plastic back from the S4 and S3 days. It wasn’t just the dual curved display but the staggering colours that packed way over 500 pixels per inch.

Samsung Galaxy S8: changed the way we look at our smartphones; literally. With an edge-to-edge, infinity display that barely wasted any screen real estate, the S8 set the benchmark for smartphone displays. It’s probably the time that we started ditching our tabs for large screen phones and the S8 (and the larger S8+) offered a truly immersive multi-media experience.

Samsung Galaxy Fold is one of the most innovative tech breakthroughs we’ve seen in a while. It’s a 4.6-inch smartphone that slips easily into your pocket or palm and morphs into a Dynamic AMOLED 7.4-inch Flex display the next moment with its unique foldable display. The UX has been crafted to handle both its avatars as a smartphone and a tablet. A sophisticated hinge with multiple interlocking gears keeps the device secure. It’s packed with formidable hardware – a finger-print scanner, six cameras, 12GB RAM with 512GB of internal storage, superior AKG speakers and Galaxy Buds in the box. Samsung also offers a dedicated round-the-clock concierge service  for this device. (Rs 1,64,999)
