BenQ PD2725U Review: Feature Packed Display
BenQ PD2725U Monitor Review

BenQ’s PD2725U stakes a claim to be your screen of choice and for a place on your desk. Should you be interested?

It’s one of those 2020s things and it’s interesting how soon we’ve got used to it. Large monitors almost crept up on us during a time when WFH and virtual meetings were a thing. We might have moved on to hybrid workflows and back to the office but the big screens continue to stay on our work desks and living spaces. They look way better than they looked in the 2010s and new screen dimensions and curved displays have also flooded the market. BenQ’s PD2725U stakes a claim to be your screen of choice and for a place on your desk. Should you be interested?

Sleek Design

27 inches is probably the sweet spot for a large monitor whether it’s your primary display or whether you’re using it in tandem with another screen. It’s also handy if your workflow involves dual screens. BenQ’s monitor boasts a slinky design and still looks quite sturdy. The display feels secure once it’s clamped onto the stand. The stand itself adds to the flexibility, it’s easy to push the display up or down to arrive at your preferred position. Like most other monitors, you can switch from portrait to landscape mode depending on your workflow.

Well ‘Connected’

Connectivity is a deal breaker for a Monitor. The more the ports the better. This is an area where the BenQ PD2725U scores. Ports include two HDMI ports, a USB 3.0 hub and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The ports are easy to access and toggling between menus is effortless too. We also like the convenience of the Thunderbolt 3 port for fast data transfer and charging, making it an ideal laptop accessory. It’s not just the multiple ports but also the clever hotkey puck. This is one of our favourite features of this device and allows you to easily switch between inputs without having to connect or disconnect cables.

Immersive Screen

Ultimately, it all boils down to the display resolution and the picture quality. This is the one reason most users invest in large Monitors for their work or play needs. The BenQ is one of the better displays at this price. You get a 27-inch 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) display that peaks at 350 nits. Blacks are inky and colours are quite gorgeous and accurate. Accuracy is a keyword, many pro users need colour accuracy for tasks like photo or video editing, Colour accuracy is an area where this monitor scores— it covers 95% P3, 100% sRGB and 100% Rec, 709 colour spaces.

Wrap Up

The BenQ PD2725U has a lot going for it. Large-format monitors have gained popularity because they ease our workflows. The convenience of Picture-in-Picture mode on this monitor (particularly useful when you’re working on multiple task windows simultaneously) is a case in point. We would have liked more powerful speakers though. It’s still a great binge-watch screen if you can hook up to an external audio source. The BenQ PD2725U offers a terrific large-screen experience, especially for pro users and comes with an elegant design and multiple connectivity options.
