Popular smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi has launched its new trio of budget smartphones, highlighted by the Redmi 6, which starts at Rs 7,999 (3GB, 32GB). The other new offerings include the entry-level Redmi 6A — Rs 5,999 (2GB, 16GB), and the flagship 6 Pro — Rs 10,999 (3GB, 32GB). The phones went up for sale on Friday and can be purchased on amazon.in or Redmi’s own portal (FULL SPECIFICATIONS BELOW).

Some of the prices are introductory and are subject to change after the festive period, according to the company.

The Chinese manufacturer has branded the Redmi 6A as ‘Desh ka naya smartphone’ and that is an indirect reference to the provision of using VOLTE and 4G sims together (given that everyone now has a secondary Reliance Jio sim card). In simple words, you will now be able to use your usual Airtel/Vodafone 4G data without turning off data usage on the VOLTE Jio.

Design

The 6 and 6A get sport a HD+ 5.45-inch display that offer an 18:9 screen ratio. The 6A feels like an entry-level phone with its plastic body while the 6 still has a more premium feel.

The Redmi 6 Pro stands out in this trio with a notch at the top of the 5.84-inch HD+ IPS display.

Hardware

Where Redmi 6 and 6A come powered by a quad-core Helio processor, the Pro variant comes with an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor.

Camera

The Redmi 6 and 6 Pro come with a dual 12+5-megapixel camera setup on the rear and Xiaomi is offering a 5-megapixel front camera.

Gimmick alert! The Redmi 6A comes with a single lens 13-megapixel camera on the rear that now comes with EIS (electronic image stabilisation) and a 5-megapixel camera on the front, which supports a software enabled Portrait Mode. 

Battery

The Redmi 6 and 6A offer 3,000mAh batteries that are not removable while the 6 Pro comes with a 4,000mAh battery pack.
