Of dust, mountains, water, snow and so much more, the ninth edition of Mahindra Adventure Monastery Escape drive was a journey of epic proportions. We were a part of the second leg of this 10-day expedition in and around the Himalayas, driving in rugged AWD Mahindras across some of world’s highest motorable roads, as a part of a 20-car convoy.
And while pictures can never do justice to the natural beauty of the breathtaking terrains, we tried our best to take you as close to reality as possible. Have a look at some of the stills ahead of our upcoming travelogue from the voyage.
Thiksay Gompa or Thiksay Monastery is a gompa affiliated with the Gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism. It is located on top of a hill in Thiksey village, approximately 19 kilometres east of Leh
The monastery is located at an altitude of 3,600 metres (11,800 ft) in the Indus Valley. It is a twelve-story complex and houses many items of Buddhist art such as stupas, statues, thangkas, wall paintings and swords.
