Introducing The Real Monochrome

Breguet explores a new colourway of blue and grey for the Tradition Quantième Rétrograde 7597 model

Swiss watch manufacturer Breguet has expanded its Tradition collection by releasing a new model: the Tradition Quantième Rétrograde 7597 model, in new colours. A visual variation in its own right, this new timepiece brings together the DNA of the collection by showcasing the movement’s organs on the dial side. It also strongly contrasts the monochrome blue applied to the dial and the anthracite movement.

The beautiful piece of horology is deeply inspired by the ‘souscription’ watch launched in 1797 and tact watches created by the founder, Abraham-Louis Breguet. Featuring all the components, from the shape of the bridges to the pare-chute shock-absorber, the 2022 Tradition Quantième Rétrograde 7597 watch is an impressive timepiece.

Crafted in a 40mm white gold case, the watch comes equipped with a gold dial that features a hand-guilloché “Clous de Paris” motif, traditional Roman numerals, and open-tipped hands. Similar to the “souscription” and tact watches, the 7597 model also has a dial secured by three screws. An exciting function of the watch is the retrograde date — a complication developed by the brand’s founder. To ensure the smooth sweep of the retrograde date mechanism, the distance between the centre and date sector is marked with the help of a newly developed multi-level blued steel hand. Furthermore, the date indication sector is spread over 180 degrees and covered with a blue coating (like the dial) to improve the dial’s legibility. How do you set the date? All one needs to do is unscrew the pusher at 10 o’clock and press the hand successively until one reaches the correct date.

Making all of the features mentioned above functional is the 505Q self-winding architectural movement working inside. The 269-part movement, with a thickness of 8.7 mm, features an inverted lever escapement and silicon horns. This material offers resistance to corrosion and wear and is insensitive to magnetic fields’ influence while also ensuring timekeeping precision. Clocking in a power reserve of 50 hours, the 505Q self-winding architectural movement is decorated with anthracite coating that can be viewed via the sapphire caseback. The new Tradition 7597 is available with a midnight blue alligator strap with a gold pin buckle.
