A few weeks ago, UK-based private number plate maker, Click4Reg sought out on a mission to find the most popular supercars of the 21st century. They did this by first creating a seed list of 20 of the most popular supercars in the world. Then, they analysed the hashtag data of each car from Instagram and ranked the findings.

Here’s what the data revealed:

10) Porsche 911 Turbo S (295,785)

The 911 Turbo S may seem to be last on this list, but don’t mistake it for a chump. With 650hp of power on tap, the Turbo S can do 0-100kph sprint in just 2.7 seconds, and achieve a top speed of 330kph. Heck, one of the questions that pop up when you google the 911 Turbo S is “Why is it so fast?” Do we need to say more?

9) Porsche 918 (298,392)

Often described as a hybrid car like no other, the Porsche 918 was the epitome of German engineering when it first came out in 2013. It packed a 4.6L V8 engine, which churned out 616hp of power. But that’s not all. The 918 also came with two electric motors — front and rear, which produced 130hp and 158hp, respectively. Talk about going fast, eh?

8) Bugatti Veyron (395,290)

We were as surprised as you are to see the once the fastest car in the world finishing eighth on the list. With 1500hp of power on tap and a 0 to 100kph sprint record of 2.3 seconds, it is surprising that the multi-million-dollar coupe doesn’t enjoy the popularity it once had.

7) Audi R8 V10 (410,826)

Leave it to the Germans to come up with something that’ll dial your adrenaline up to 11. With 610hp of power, the Audi R8 V10 did just that. No wonder it was Iron Man’s choice in the Avengers and Iron Man movies.

6) Ferrari Enzo (451,334)

Often considered as the crème de la crème of exotic cars, the Ferrari Enzo has a special place in the heart of every gearhead. With 659hp of power drumming out of the sweet tune of the V12, it’s not a surprise that Enzo still enjoys a cult-like status.

5) McLaren 720S (452,058)

If you had a poster of a supercar when you were growing up, it probably looked a lot like the McLaren 720S. The 976hp-making lightweight two-seater was launched at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show to great fanfare. And while it slowly approaches its fifth birthday, the fanfare doesn’t seem to show signs of slowing down.

4) McLaren P1 (463,288)

Jeremy Clarkson described the P1 as the “widowmaker”. McLaren took the learnings from their F1 team and combined them with hybrid power, to make the P1 a reality. The result was a 916hp-making, limited-edition supercar that could reach a top speed of 350kph.

3) Nissan GT-R R-35 (474,129)

Fondly known as the ‘Godzilla,’ the Nissan GT-R was made to be a 55hp-powered “practical” supercar. One which would let you take it around the city every day, and also put it to pace around the racetrack when required.

2) Lamborghini Aventador (1,335,069)

During its hey-day, every car nut growing up had a poster of a yellow Lambo Aventador on their wall. The outlandish two-seater supercar may not be high up on comfort, but its 740hp producing V12 motor will make sure you’ll hold on to the steering wheel for dear life.

1) Lamborghini Huracán (1,384,480)

The number one entry on the list had to be from the Lamborghini stable. And what better than the Huracán to do the honours? Packing a 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine that makes 638hp, the Huracán is the perfect fusion of technology and design.
