2025 Nissan GT-R; A Likely Swan Song

According to reports, only 1,500 units will be made of the last-ever GTR. Although, Nissan is yet to confirm this officially

There’s some good news and some bad. Focusing on the first bit, Nissan has debuted the 2025 iteration of the iconic GT-R in Japan. The bad? It is likely to be the last one.

No, really. Although Nissan is yet to confirm it officially, a Japan-based publication alleges that the marquee is only planning to sell 1,500 units of the new-gen GTR, with 300 of them being the Nismo spec models. The publication further states that Nissan has informed its dealers in Japan, that the GT-R will be discontinued since the company will be unable to source some parts for it in the future.

But as things stand officially, the 2025 GTR will be offered in two trims -  Premium Edition T-spec and Track Edition models, with the latter getting performance additions like weight-balanced piston rings, crankshafts and connecting rods. Being a JDM car, Nissan is also packed in an aluminium plaque which mentions who built the car, along with a gold-coloured plate that mentions the chassis number.

Coming to what’s changed, or updated, Nissan has revamped both the front and rear end of the GT-R, introducing a thinner mesh in the front grille for enhanced cooling and minimizing drag. Despite purportedly enhancing downforce, Nissan has managed to maintain the GT-R's coefficient of drag at 0.26 without any alterations.

Meanwhile, the T-spec trim level makes its return for 2024, offering two exclusive colours. The first is Millenium Jade, which was previously exclusive to the R34 V-Spec II Nür. The second, Midnight Purple, though is more of a contemporary interpretation of the Midnight Purple III found on the R-34 GT-R V-Spec.

Additionally, the T-spec now boasts carbon-ceramic brakes from Nismo, along with wider front fenders, Nismo dynamic vehicle control, and a gold-painted iteration of the RAYS 20-inch forged Nismo wheels. Inside and out, it features distinctive T-spec badging and comes with dark Mori Green upholstery. The fancier ‘Premium Edition’ GT-R now comes with a rather interesting Blue Heaven interior upholstery.

Under the hood, both the Premium and T-spec models maintain the identical power output of 565PS and 633Nm, from the hand-assembled twin-turbo 3.8-liter V-6 engine, while the enhanced Nismo variant further boosts those numbers to 600PS and 660Nm of torque.
