With the rise in global warming around the world, car and bike manufacturers are forced to reduce carbon footprint that was caused by internal combustion vehicles. 2020 and 2021 saw the development and rise of an all-new segment in the auto industry to fight this global problem, giving birth to an all-new eco-friendly segment —  electric.

In 2020, India got to see a lot of new players in the EV segment. In the two-wheeler segment, we got to see Ather and Revolt coming with some interesting options. In the meantime, companies like Bajaj and Hero used their expertise to come up with interesting new products. Few of the top electric two-wheelers that are currently in the Indian market are as follows.

 

Ather 450

 

 

This is currently the most celebrated electric scooter in the Indian market. The Ather 450 is powered by a detachable lithium-ion 2.4kWh battery, which is rated IP67 for water and dust protection. Ather provides a good range of 75 km in one single charge, and can charge from zero to 80 per cent in around two hours. It has a fast charger, which juices the battery at the rate of 1km/hr. It has an ex-showroom price of Rs 1,08,847.

 

Revolt RV 300

 

 

The Revolt RV 300 is the entry level bike in the companies’ line-up with an ex-showroom price of Rs 1,10,963. Unlike the competition, the RV 300 is the only electric motorcycle you can buy today. It can run up to 180km in one single charge. RV 300 also comes with three driving modes, so the rider can adjust the range and can increase the battery life.

 

Bajaj Chetak Electric

 

 

The old dog in the Indian market came up with this all electric scooter, Bajaj Chetak. It has an ex-showroom price of Rs 1,15,000. It gets powered by a 3800 W motor, which can provide a range of up to 85 to 95 km. Chetak can fully charge itself up in five hours. Bajaj is offering two variants for chetak, i.e. Urbane and Premium.

 

Hero Electric Dash

 

 

Hero brings an all-electric budget scooter to the Indian market with an ex-showroom price of Rs 62,000 onwards. It is powered by a 48V 28Ah lithium-ion battery, paired with a 250W motor. The Dash offers a range of 60 km on one single charge and offers fast charging technology which can charge the batteries fully in four hours. It features LED headlamps, remote boot openings, USB charging port, large seat, and a ground clearance of 145mm.

 

Hero Photon

 

 

Hero comes up with its another model in the electric segment. Photon is powered by a 2.7kWh battery and can charge fully up in four hours. It offers a top speed of 45 km and with a range of 110 km, it means that it is specially designed for the city and not for long commute distances. It has an ex-showroom price of Rs 84,990.
