Hero Motor Corp launches two new scooters

The two new commuters feature a new Hero built engine

Indian Two wheeler manufacturing giant, Hero Motor Corp unveiled two brand new scooters in New Delhi today – the Maestro Edge and the Duet. Both scooters, share the same platform and engine and feature a new 110cc, single-cylinder, petrol engine built entirely by Hero.

A leader in the Indian 2-wheeled commuter segment, Hero severed ties with its long standing technological partner Honda, but was up until recently, continuing to use Honda technology to power it’s motorcycles and scooters. While the existing rang of machines will continue to be powered by Honda, Hero’s new products will see them more directly involved with the power train development.

The Maestro Edge is the more robust and er..edgy looking scooter, with more enhanced styling as compared to the Duet which is styled to be more practical. Both scooters are equipped with plenty of practical features such as an under seat mobile charging port, remote seat opening, remote fuel-lid opening, side-stand indicators and twin parking lamps. Other segment standard features such as alloy-wheels, multiple luggage hooks and a digital analogue console are present too, as is a predictable power output of 8.3 bhp.

The Duet appears to be a direct competitor to the likes of the Activa and will be launched soon after the launch of the Maestro Edge which, come mid-October, will retail at Rs 50,700 (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).
