Kawasaki W800 Street Launched in India

India Kawasaki Motors (IKM) announced the arrival of its 1966’s successor – the all-new Kawasaki W800 Street to the country recently. The Japanese motorcycle manufacturer has priced the W800 Street at Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Sadly, the Kawasaki W800 Street will be available in only one colour – metallic flat spark black/metallic matte graphite grey.

According to Kawasaki, the W1 was the largest-displacement Japanese model at times in the market, and played a major part in establishing the image of Kawasaki as a manufacturer of large-displacement motorcycles, and is the foundation of W series. The W series made its presence felt in the Kawasaki family and inspired the birth of the legendary machines such as the Kawasaki Z1 and Ninja H2 sportbikes.

The W800 Street is powered by an air-cooled 773cc vertical twin-engine which features an updated modern double-cradle frame design and modern suspension components. The twin-engine produces 47 PS of power and 62.9 Nm of peak torque. The homage to the legendary Kawasaki W1 has a kerb weight of 221 kgs.

Although the bike has simple mechanical parts, it does boast of some modern features like a round LED headlamp, dual-channel ABS, twin-pod instrument console and more. Other than that, there are no electronic rider aids and the Kawasaki W800 Street takes a more simplistic approach to motorcycling. In this respect, it is similar to the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Triumph Street Twin in the Indian market.
