The German marquee will also be showcasing the all-electric EQG later this year

Ahead of unveiling the all-electric EQG later this year, Mercedes has updated the G-Class range with mild-hybrid options and minor changes. The updates are subtle, starting with design tweaks such as a new front bumper and radiator grille.

The focus is on enhancing the G-Class's aerodynamics, achieved by rounding off the A-pillars and adding a new lip to the windscreen. Mercedes claims this reduces the drag coefficient from 0.53 to 0.48. Additionally, the front-facing camera is now mounted lower on the bumper, providing a ‘transparent bonnet’ view.

Inside, the G-Class now boasts the latest version of the MBUX infotainment system, akin to the GLS facelift. This upgrade introduces a touchscreen for the first time, along with temperature-controlled cup holders and a wireless mobile charger. Furthermore, keyless entry has been added, a practical addition that required significant effort to implement without altering the door handle design.

Under the hood, the base 3.0-litre straight-six diesel motor remains unchanged but now features a 48V integrated starter generator, boosting power to 362PS and 750Nm. Meanwhile, the 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder petrol unit delivers 436PS of power.

The Mercedes-AMG G63 benefits from an advanced new active suspension system aimed at enhancing both on- and off-road performance. Like the standard G-Class, the AMG variant incorporates 48V mild-hybrid technology, maintaining its formidable 585hp output. Moreover, the AMG G 63 now offers an optional AMG Active Ride Control, featuring Mercedes' hydraulic, anti-rollbar-free suspension technology previously seen on the AMG SL 63.
