Porsche India launches the new, updated 911

It’s a bit more different than you might think

Porsche India just launched the new, refreshed 911 – the same 911 that has drawn the ire of many a 911 enthusiasts who think Porsche have let down enthusiasts world over by turbocharging their standard 911. The new 3.0-litre, flat six engine gets twin-turbo power in an effort to abide by Europe’s increasingly stringent emissions norms. The change also makes the supercar more economical.

This brings the total 911 count to a total of eight and all eight versions of the 911 will be sold in India starting from the base Carrera model, carrera S and the Turbo models which feature a larger 3.8 litre, flat-six which produces 532 bhp in standard form and 572 in the Turbo ‘S’ guise. The base version still makes a pretty decent 364 bhp, although you’ll have to mine the used car market for a naturally aspirated one. You can have any of the four variants in cabriolet form as well.

It’s still an upgrade of the 991 model of the 911, (now dubbed 991.2) and you can have one for Rs 1.39 crore (the Carrera). The Carrera S costs Rs 1.63 crore while the top-end Turbo S variant costs Rs 2.67 crore.
