These female cops have held their own and have showed a lot of courage and grit in tough situations.
She’s been in the news lately for standing up against local BJP leaders and sending five of them to jail for creating obstacles in discharging government duties in UP. Yes, we’re talking about Shreshtha Thakur, who displayed truck-loads of courage while tackling the politicians, and whose video recently went viral.
Sadly, the fearless woman who displayed a lot of bravery was recently transferred to Bahraich which makes us realize how being a woman police officer may be one of the toughest jobs around the world. Besides their official duties, they also have a tough task of battling the patriarchal mindset of their male colleagues and the society’s longstanding prejudices.

But this transfer did not deter the iron lady and she posted on social media stating how happy she is with the transfer. Quite a badass, isn’t she? And besides Shreshtha, there are a number female cops who’ve held their own and have shown their grit in tough situations. And so we thought we’d make a list of the some of the most fearless female cops who’ve, time and again, proven that nothing in the world is impossible (for them at least).
She once took down 16 militants, arrested at least 64 and seized arms and ammunition during her stint in Assam as the superintendent of police. Hats off to her.
Sangeeta, cracked the civil services exams twice, but got the IPS cadre in 2009, in her third attempt. She then took charge as the Superintendent of the police in the Fatehabad district and came into the limelight after she had an argument with Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij. A total badass!
A gold medallist from Delhi School of Economics, she is Lucknow’s first woman police chief who is renowned for punishing undisciplined constables and also for busting a multi-crore kidney racket. She once even took on Samajwadi Party workers in Etawah for making use of tinted windows.
The woman with zero tolerance for trouble makers, Sonia Narang was thrust into the limelight when she actually slapped an MLA during a violent protest in the year 2006. She was later accused of being involved in the Rs 16,000 crore mining scam by Chief Minister K. Siddaramaiah after which she had to issue a press statement negating the same. She is also the second woman cop in the history of Karnataka who was the Deputy Commissioner in Bangalore. More power to her!
