Even as the novel coronavirus continues to affect millions of people worldwide and has decimated an already staggering economy, lives have come to a standstill due to global lockdowns which are set in place to battle COVID-19.
Whether its a birthday or a funeral, practically every aspect of our life has been virtualised – and that holds true for graduations.
However, here’s a consolation, if you can call it that – Facebook is holding a virtual graduation ceremony with media heavyweight Oprah Winfrey delivering the commencement address. Awkwafina, Jennifer Garner, Lil Nas X and Simone Biles will all be giving a speech while Miley Cyrus is set to perform.
According to media reports, the event will kick off at 1 AM PT/2 PM ET on May 15 and will be accessible via the Facebook Watch app.
That’s not all – YouTube is set to give star-studded graduation for the Class of 2020 featuring speeches by none other than former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama, as well as appearances by BTS, Lady Gaga, and more.
All you need to do is go to this link on June 6th.
