Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray, sat down for a virtual interaction with the representatives of the film and television industry, and after a discussion, decided that the shooting of film and TV can be resumed in a safe manner. He said that permissions for shootings in Mumbai would be given if the city’s daily coronavirus case count is under control.

Several notable actors, anchors and others associated to the entertainment industry, including Aadesh Bandekar, Nitin Vaidya, Prashant Damle, Bharat Jadhav, Subodh Bhave, Amol Kolhe, JD Mathijia, Amit Behl, Punit Goenka, Ajay Bhalvankar, Sangamon Shirke, Vijay Kenkre, Sharad Ponkshe, Siddharth Roy Kapur, participated in the meeting.
“After the second wave of COVID-19, film and TV shootings were stopped in the state, but now the number of cases have started getting under control and the unlock process has also begun,” he said. Thackeray added that film and TV producers will need to follow all COVID-19 safety rules and take precautions during the shoot, and avoid any sort of causalities.
He urged the producers to cooperate with the government and added, “We should ensure that we do not get knocked down by the virus.” Reportedly, shooting activities can be conducted in a bubble and no outdoor shooting after 5 pm will be allowed in Mumbai. Shoots can kickstart in the city from today.
Earlier, the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), which is the Goa government’s nodal agency authorised to give permission for commercial shootings in the coastal state, revoked all permissions granted for film and television filming in the state.
ESG’s Vice Chairman Subhash Faldesai told PTI, “We will not allow any shooting of films or television serials in public or private properties.” The decision came after the film and TV serial makers from Mumbai and Chennai flew down to Goa to shoot for their projects in the wake of the surge in COVID-19 cases in their own cities.
