Friends Reunion has been in the talks for the longest time now. The cast including David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston have been sharing updates about the reunion with their fans now and then, and keeping them excited for it. Earlier, Schwimmer had revealed that the reunion would be shot in the coming months, and has now confirmed that the cast will be kickstarting the shoot next week. He also confirmed that the episode will be unscripted.
Schwimmer arrived on The Graham Norton Show when he was asked about his “pressing engagement that the world has been waiting for.” The actor, who played Ross Geller on the show, revealed, “I will be getting on a plane soon and shooting for Friends Reunion next week. I am going to see everyone next week for the first time in many years.”
He added that Aniston, Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox, and Matt LeBlanc, will be appearing on the show themselves on the special Friends Reunion episode and won’t be playing their characters. The 54-year-old actor, however, hinted at a surprise segment of the special episode.
“I will be myself. There’s nothing scripted, we are not in characters. We are all ourselves, the real people. Although there is a section of it that I don’t want to give away, but we all will read something,” stated Schwimmer. He also added that he hasn’t “been able to catch up on the 236 episodes. I think I need to watch a lot in the next five days.”
Earlier, Schwimmer had also addressed the rumours that suggested Ellen DeGeneres had been booked for hosting the special Friends Reunion episode on SiriusXM’s talk show Radio Andy. Shutting down the probability of her involvement in the show, the actor had said, “I can tell you it’s not Ellen, and it’s not Billy Crystal. I can tell you who it’s not, but that’ll take a while, probably.” The sitcom’s reunion was initially announced in February 2020 and was scheduled to premiere in May the same year, but it was delayed momentarily due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
