According to sports website Crictracker, the Indian cricket team would be going to Bangladesh for a series of two tests and three ODIs. This series is scheduled to take place in November 2022.

While no exact details have been revealed, this would be India’s first tour to Bangladesh since 2015, where India played two tests and three ODIs. This was the first tour that India did after the 2015 ICC World Cup. This tour wasn’t a good one for the Indian side, and had a poor outing. The first and only test between the sides ended in a draw. The test was followed by three ODIs, which were played in Dhaka. India lost the first two ODIs by quite a margin, and lost the series. The only thing they could salvage out of this miserable tour was a consolation win in the final ODI. This tour proved that India needed wholesome changes among the squad to succeed as a side. 

Since that humbling series loss, India has come a long way, making them one of the most dominant sides of the game in almost all formats. This revival has come under the leadership of Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma, who has helped the side grow and develop with a mix of youth and experience. In contrast, Bangladesh has had a mixed time since their win against India. They have changed their captain a fair few times, leading to such varied results over the years.

Since the schedule for the next ICC world Test championship cycle is not out yet, we still don’t know whether this Test series will be counted in the cycle. But it is for sure that India would be looking for a way to avenge their humiliating loss in 2015. This series will be mainly after the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. Since no T20s are scheduled on this tour, it signals that India might be looking at this as a stepping stone for the 2023 World Cup, which is set to take place in India itself. India and Bangladesh will be providing us with an enthralling series with a lot of runs and wickets, making this a match to look out for.
