There are few decorations which have escaped MS Dhoni in his long and illustrious career. He’s lifted the T20 World Cup, the Champions Trophy, the World Cup, and the Test Mace, making him the only captain to do so.
On Monday, the Indian Government recognized Dhoni’s feats by awarding him the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian award. He received the honors along with Pankaj Advani, the star snooker player.
Dhoni accepted his award in his Lieutenant Colonel uniform, an honorary rank that was bestowed upon him in 2011, the year he won the world cup. He walked to the stage in the fashion of a member of the Armed Forces when his name was called.
Dhoni has won the Khel Ratna in 2007 and the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honor in 2009. He is the second cricketer to receive the Padma Bhushan after Kapil Dev, India’s other World Cup winning captain.
