Sounds like the plot of a Hollywood film, right? Or maybe the next Dan Brown novel? However, this news is real and it’s very exciting. The space agency has launched a new project called Subsea which stands for Systematic Underwater Biogeochemical Science and Exploration Analog, reports NBC News.
And what’s the aim of the project? According to the news agency, it will be exploring the environmental conditions near about the Lō`ihi seamount because of the presence of an extensive network of hydrothermal vents in the area – this also makes it an extremely good region to study the interesting biodiversity.
However, that’s not all – the scientists at the space agency believe that the conditions near the Lō`ihi seamount mimic those of Enceladus, one of Saturn’s moons.
