According to the Billboard, the pop singer’s foundation Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF) and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey have teamed up to provide $4.2 million to victims of domestic violence impacted by the coronavirus lockdown.
CLF and Dorsey each committed $ 2.1 million to the fund. The joint donation will be put into the Los Angeles Mayor’s Fund to keep an eye on the city’s overcrowded shelters.
According to the Los Angeles Housing Authority, about 90 people a week have been removed from full shelters since the stay at home order came into effect last month. The joint grant is expected to cover 90 victims of domestic violence per week for 10 weeks.
Earlier this week, Dorsey had announced that he was donating $1 billion of his equity in Square to help fund COVID-19 relief efforts.
Last week, Rihanna’s CLF and Jay-Z’s Shawn Carter Foundation donated $ 2 million to support undocumented workers, incarcerated populations, the homeless and the elderly, and children of front-line health workers in Los Angeles and New York amid the coronavirus pandemic.
