All-new Toyota Fortuner revealed
Specifications are for Australian and Thai markets, but should be similar in India
Toyota has revealed photographs and specifications of the all-new Fortuner SUV, a big seller for the company in India. The details relate to models that will be sold in Australia and Thailand, but the India version, due next year, should not be significantly different. The new Fortuner looks significantly better than the current model, adding some sleekness to its features, but it retains the characteristic that so endears it to buyers who want to make a statement – heft and road presence.
Three engine options were announced – 4-cylinder 2.4, 2.7 and 2.8-litre diesels producing 148, 164 and 174 bhp respectively. The Fortuner will also get 18-inch alloy wheels, Bi-Beam LED lights, an electric tailgate, push-button start, a TFT multi-information display, paddle shifters and other features. In terms of safety, the SUV will have seven airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control and electronic stability control, parking sensors, a reversing camera and several other features. When the new car comes to India, expect a starting price of Rs 25 lakh or thereabouts, ex-showroom. Meanwhile, check out this video
