Neeraj Ghaywan’s directiorial debut is the toast at Cannes this year. Here’s to small films making it big.
Masaan, Neeraj Ghaywan’s debut, made it to the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival along with a Punjabi film titled, Chauthi Koot.

The Richa Chadda, Sanjay Mishra and Vicky Kaushal starrer is an Indo-French film produced by Manish Mundra, Macassar Productions, Phantom Films, Sikhya Entertainment, Arte France Cinema and Pathe productions. Based on a real story and entirely shot in Varanasi, the film has been lauded for its exceptional film making and impressive performances.
After the film was screened, the cast and the director were mildly surprised with the long standing ovation the film received. Actor Richa Chadda tweeted, “Got teary at the 5 minute long standing ovation. Thank you everyone.”
